It's Thursday. I'm Pretty Sure I Have More Than 3 Things On The Very Last Day Of My 30s

1. Every day, lately, getting the mail has been like Christmas. I've gotten some great stickers, a lot of birthday cards, and some FANTASTIC socks from Tori, who knitted them for me (DNA socks! Nerds unite!) after I mentioned how cool I thought they were on her blog. I also got my first product to review! It's been so much fun (way better than bills!).




2. I actually won a giveaway on Lauren's blog! She was giving away the Sony Walkman wireless mp3 player that I have been lusting after. I'm convinced that random.org knew it's my birthday tomorrow. YAY!

3. I went to the DMV today to renew my driver's license. I got to downgrade my weight by 10 pounds. The guy kind of rolled his eyes at me, but I LOVED it.

4. Do you catch yourself looking in the mirror or at a photo and have your age almost sneak up on you? I really don't feel 40 (whatever that feels like) in my head - I picture myself younger. But then I see the crinkly lines around my eyes every once in a while and it catches my off guard. Maybe it's just me...

5. Running has been rather meh for me this week. My legs have been tired and I've lacked motivation. I take that all to mean that my step back week was in EXACTLY the right spot. But even stepping back, I'm fighting with myself to get the miles in. I'm not worried about it - next week I'll be back on track.

6. I'm really looking forward to my birthday this year (some years I don't get excited about it - it's just not that big a deal). I hope it's a great day. I'm planning on having dinner with my family, and then John and I are heading out with some friends to play pool and watch the Blackhawks (hoping for a WIN). I'm sure I'll have pictures to share...

7. When my parents came to watch me race last weekend, they brought my birthday present with them. I got cheesecake (what can I say - they know me - I'll take cheesecake over regular cake ANY day) which I ate later (I shared even!) and birthday money. Now I'm torn between spending it on running stuff for summer, and a new pair of jeans. I really NEED new jeans. But I hate hate hate shopping. I need a personal shopper, seriously. Someone with some style. Volunteers?

8. 8 birthday miles to do this week. 1 for every 5 years of my life. I think I'm really going to enjoy that run. :)

    The socks look so neat!

    I wanted to say in your card, but didn't know how to say it right, but "I want to be like you when I am 40" - as in, fit, happy, fun, funny, fun to be around... hope that doesn't come off the wrong way.

    Ugh. Shopping. I SUCK at it.

    And my legs have been buggin' too. Remember that we raced on Saturday? Yeah. I keep forgetting. I used to take a whole week off after a race. Maybe I should still do that ;)

    Happy birthday! I know 40 has been creeping up on me and it just hit this week... I'm going to be 40. That's not young anymore. But I had a teenager peg me for 27, which made me feel better...

    Happy Birthday! I love how you took the pictures of the socks. Thank you for not showing the unfortunate color switch!

    We just had a cheesecake taste off at my house last week. We baked 2 cheesecakes, different recipes, and then decided which one was best. My answer? Both!

    Shopping is awful. I wish someone could just come and dress me like a grown up every day because I don't feel like I make enough effort at it.

    You don't look 40 at all, and apparently I don't look 36 either. Hooray for that! I think running and being fit and happy is probably the reason for that.
