So. I just re-read my 2012 goals, and I think they are slack goals. I may actually have to re-write them. I mean really? I realize it's only February, but number 1 is run 1000 miles, and I'll be damn near done with that by July if I keep this up. And the pace goals are equally lame.
Did you ever re-do your goals a couple months in because you realized you were sand-bagging yourself? A goal is supposed to be a challenge, and at this rate, I don't feel like mine are.
So even if I don't officially fix them, know that I'll be thinking about them as "not enough."

February miles rounded out at 110.04, which is more than twice last year's February mileage. Which kicks ass.

I've been single parenting for the past couple days, which I suck at, mostly because I hate it. And I like my husband. He's funny and cool and as big a dork as I am. I kinda like having him back again. In the meantime, I've been trying to get ready for a big birthday party. You see, my baby turns 5 tomorrow. HOW ON EARTH DID THAT HAPPEN???? And he wants monkey cupcakes. Have I mentioned before that I am the antithesis of crafty? But I love that kid, and monkey cupcakes he will have. Hopefully someone besides James will actually know they're monkeys. :)
Gotta go clean some more. You know, so they can all undo it when they get home from school...
Awesome mileage!!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the cleaning!
Nice job!
ReplyDeleteOnce you meet the mileage and pace goals, even early on, create another goal for the rest of the year. I've had to adjust like that a couple years. :)
good work!
ReplyDeletetake pictures of the monkey cupcakes
That's really funny you mention changing your goals mid-year. I have a post scheduled for tomorrow reviewing my goals and how I did in February. I actually changed one of my goals, because it needed altering. As you will see tomorrow, goals are PERFECT for a mere snapshot in time. Hopefully, they remain VALID for much longer than that. But, sometimes (and sometimes, quite often), we need to adjust, delete or even add goals as our life changes. There's nothing wrong with that! Good for you for blowing away your original goals - it's been a good year for you!
ReplyDeleteExceeded goals are a thing of beauty! Good luck with the monkey cupcakes--I'll bet Char has some great ideas for you.
ReplyDeleteI am constantly revising my goals. Sometimes i think we doubt ourselves way too much!
ReplyDeleteHMMMM- interesting place you find yourself in with your goals. Wonder why? Were you scared to push yourself when you made them? Have you improved way more than you thought possible? Great job. I fear to suggest increasing your goals because I would hate for an injury to happen and you to get a set back and feel discouraged. I often make goals with tiers - like my base line goal is X, but my steps leading to that goal are 1,2,3. For example I might make a pace goal of 10:00 m/m (which will never happen during this year), but my steps for that goal are an 11:30 m/m, a 11:00 m/m, and a 10:30 m/m all leading to finally achieving my 10:00 m/m pace (which for me might take 3 more years). If I happen to be awesome (not likely this year) I might get the 11:3o and the 11:00 m/m accomplished (for example). So I still achieve my goals and am on the right path for the final goal. Just sharing what I do. Hope it helps!
ReplyDeleteGreat job, though - seriously impressive! Be safe above everything else and as a close second, have fun!!!!!
Keep up the awesome work!
You are awesome! February is a good time to re-evaluate but I think July is even better time. I like Karen's plan.
ReplyDeleteI do want to see the monkey cupcakes :)
Keep it up speedy.
Setting goals in never slacking...but sometimes we surpass our wildest dreams of ourselves.
ReplyDeleteAnd I feel ya on the single Mom thing. Beginning to wonder if I am really married anymore?
Can't wait to see you Saturday!!
Hey, you can leave your goals as-is and then just make it a secret (or not so secret) goal to bust them out of the water!
ReplyDeleteWell...I would have to make goals to keep them :) I need to get on that goal making thing! Way to go on already beating yours down though!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to James! I hope it's a great day.
ReplyDeleteThe monkey cupcakes were seriously very easy. I used chocolate frosting for the whole cupcake and then took white frosting and made a monkey face with it-kind of wrote the letter M and then ended with a big circle at the bottom and then filled it in. Then I used mini m&M's for the eyes, tinted some frosting lavendar for the nostrils and then tinted some pink for the mouth. I rolled the top of the cupcake in chocolate sprinkles but I don't think that's necessary. Then I added chocolate cheerios for the ears. It was slightly time consuming but super easy. I wish I had time to just make them for you! I do think I have some lavendar and pink frosting still in a disposable decorating bag-if you want it let me know and you can stop over sometime and get them if that would help. I also have a whole box of chocolate cheerios if you want some.
Wow, you are doing great so far this year with your mileage! Hope you all had a fun time celebrating his birthday!
