TTT: James Edition

1. My baby turned 5 today. I guess that means it's official - I no longer HAVE a baby. *sigh*
a rare photo in which he smiles. :)

2. The beginning of today was difficult. He didn't want anyone to sing to him. He didn't want anyone to even SAY "happy birthday." He refused to talk to my mom on the phone when she called to wish him a happy birthday. I was nervous about him at school, but it seemed like by then, he was warming up to being the center of attention. I brought cupcakes in, and spent the rest of his day hanging with him.

We came home and I made him pancakes for lunch (per his request). I'm hoping that the rest of the day goes as well...

3. "Event" kind of days always amplify his differentness. I was speaking with one of his teachers today and we shared our concerns about kindergarten for him. I'm feeling anxious about his teacher conferences this evening. I still worry about him so much, only because I want so much for him.

This mothering gig is a trip, some days. I have a weird lump in my throat today that I can't seem to get rid of. All because I love him so much that I ache.

  4. He'll ALWAYS be your baby. Don't ever let age take that away from you.

Also? I'm tearing up over here. Though much newer to this whole parenthood gig, I already firmly believe that it's full of aches. Full body aches from chasing little ones around the house. And full soul aches for wanting the best for our children. You're a good mama!

  10. I went through a phase in college where I didn't want anyone to say happy birthday to me. Instead I insisted they say "congrats on surviving another year!"

So, congrats on surviving another year to both you and James. May the next years continue to get better and betters :-)
