What Day Is It?

I have a love hate relationship with holidays. I love having everyone home, but my schedule gets all jacked up and I have no clue what day it is for a week following. So.

I guess it's Tuesday?

First thing - I guess blogger has enabled embedded replies to comments as long as you have COMMENTS embedded. Which is great, except when I switch my settings, I can't see any of my old comments. And some bloggers out there who've switched, I can't comment on. But not others. Weird. Anyone have any good advice on how to navigate this?

What a lovely quiet weekend! There was Olympic Trials and marathon stalking and running and shopping and a date night even. And a pj day. And a Daddy daughter dance!
2 of the cutest people I know :)

Running lately has been feeling bigger than I am. Running reminds me of all the good in my life, but it makes me reflect on all the bad out there. Between Beth's cousin, my friend who's currently undergoing a stem cell transplant for multiple myeloma, my parent's friend (who is several years younger than I) who is dealing with the ramifications of a brain tumor, my running friends who CAN'T run due to injury, well, the list is long. There's been so much of this lately, that I am reminded that while my bullshit may feel overwhelming at times, my bullshit is pretty minor in the grand scheme of things.

I went out on Saturday afternoon (because I couldn't bring myself to get up early) for a snowy run with some running club people. It was a lovely chilly sunshiny run with great company. Riyanti was supposed to run the Polar Dash Half in Chicago, but they rescheduled it due to the weather, so she ran a half anyway, just to. It was perfect.

Things to remember on a chilly day: my mom has Raynaud's, and I need to watch out for this - my fingertips were blue when I got home, and numb. Also, wool socks and my feet have a 6 mile limit. My toes were warm, but that didn't make my blister feel any better.

  1. For some reason I can't reply on the commentws on mine. Not sure why. Frustrating.

  2. I am having commenting issues today too! Very frustrating!

They are so adorable! I love the Daddy daughter dance! Go easy on yourself. Sometimes it's the little things that can overwhelm you. I'm the same way! I beat myself up saying that people have so much more to deal with but really if it is big to you then it is big.

  3. Sounds like we're all having commenting issues - this is one of those times I start thinking about switching to WP!

Stay warm out there - I have Raynaud's and have to double up my gloves to stay warm and sometimes it's still not enough!

  4. I think it's funny that they rescheduled a Polar Dash for the weather. Doesn't the title imply that you have to tough out whatever winter gives you?

  5. Really the polar dash was rescheduled? I was this close to signing up for that but didn't wanna risk the weather. Figures.
I've been feeling that sense of perspective too, in light of recent events. Makes minor BS feel like just that: minor.
Gorgeous daddy/daughter pic! Somebody looks like YOU! :)

  7. Someone told me my blog was acting wacky the other day too! Hmmm.

What a cute picture! They both look pretty happy :)

I haven't heard of Raynaud's before but I'm curios. Have you tried Smartwool socks?? They're great for running and don't feel like wool at all.

  8. That photo is adorable! I also have Raynaud's and use WikMax Heatr wrist warmers - alone on warmer days, inside my gloves on colder days. They have made a HUGE difference for me!

  9. My advice about Blogger? Switch to Wordpress! (And you think I'm kidding?!)

Sometimes we have to take in what's going on in the world around us to give us perspective on our own lives. But, I also think it's ok to be sad or upset or disappointed or whatever relating to our own problems, even if they're small in the grand scheme of things. Just because someone has bigger problems than you doesn't mean you have no problems at all.

  11. Perfect post - I can't tell you how much I needed the reminder that my BS is just that - BS and that life can deal a hand of cards so much scarier or worse or horrible than any of the day to day crap I'm having (solely related to my job). Thanks for this post!

The daddy-daughter dance picture is beyond adorable! So cute!!!!!

  12. Thanks for the BS reminder. I have been feeling so stupidly stressed lately. Really stupidly.

Love love love the daddy daughter pic! So cute! And handsome!

I love the three day weekends but get all thrown off too. So happy only three more days in the workweek for me though!
