TCM Training Week 10

Last week was an emotionally draining week for me. There are weeks where James seems damn near average, and then there are weeks that remind me that he isn't. Transitional times are always the hardest on him, and when it's toughest for him, it's also toughest for me as a result.

On Thursday, after putting him on the bus, I cried my guts out (really?!? wtf?) and set out for a calming run. Well, the run HURT, enough to cut it short, so I was feeling even more wound up by the time I met the bus at the end of his day. Then he looked at me, screamed bloody murder, and thrashed, kicked and hit me as I tried to remove him from the bus. It was heartbreaking, more than anything, even IF I should have expected it - you see, he LIKED the bus and didn't want to get off.

The rest of the day spiralled downhill from there, and I was ridiculously SPENT by then end of it. Thankfully, Friday went much much better, and his afternoon bus driver made me fall in love with her by working with him so that he had a "get off the bus" routine down complete with a, "HELLO Mommy! I had a GREAT day!" I'm hoping today is more of the same.

On to training...
Monday - Wednesday: Rest. But not restful - mad dash into back to school.

Thursday: 3.25 ouchie miles - my right shin/lower leg were really hurting. Cut my 6 short. (ave. pace - 10:54)

Friday: 5 tuneless, easy miles. Leg felt better, although not 100%. (ave pace - 10:44)

Saturday: 5 easy miles at my parents' place. It was fun to explore their neighborhood. (ave. pace - 10:53)

Sunday: 20!!! All week long, it was a toss-up as to whether or not my leg was going to let me get this one done. I set out easy, paying close attention. The most bummer part is that I was running 4 days in a row, which I CAN do, but am not really used to doing, so by 13, I was pretty beat. I had done the first 10 on my own, stopped at my car to refill, and met a running club friend. She got me through the next 6, when I stopped at my car again to refill and meet up with Kim and Erin for my final 4. It was super nice to have them there, even if I was unable to keep up with them at that point. But they cheered me on, and got me to the end! YAY!
I am DONE! Kim, though had 16 more to go :) Kim and Erin were very cute and unintentionally matchy...
I managed to finish, even though there was a ton of walking happening at the end. (ave. pace: 11:39 - gu'd at 6, 10, 15ish (started half a gu, got pukey, finished it at 16) salt at 10 and 16, 60+ ounces of half powerade half water, plus water fountain stops at 10 and 16)

Week Total Miles: 33.25
