AAAAAANNNNDDDD It's Monday Again...

Time these days is flying past me at mach speed. I have way too much to do before the race, and it'd be nice if I could get it to slow down a bit, but it's doesn't look like that will be happening for me.

Last week, I was crushingly tired. Lazy. Unmotivated. I didn't want to do ANYTHING. And my house is proof. I dd my recovery run on Tuesday and then I didn't manage to get myself running again until Saturday. SATURDAY. I got a super speedy (for me - HA!) 3.5 miles in that afternoon and then 10.5 miles in yesterday, 10 of which I'm counting for Marcia's Power of 10 virtual race and giveaway. She has some great prizes! Check it out here. So today is a rest day for me, as far as running is concerned. I'm going to be vigilant about getting back to my core though! I've been a slacker...

I know that many runners get a bit antsy during taper time, but honestly, I'm quite looking forward to it. That probably says something about me doing a bit too much too soon - perhaps I should have held off to do the marathon NEXT year - but this has been a really crazy summer for me, and I'm looking forward to slowing down a bit. That said, I was already talking to my husband about the possibility of doing Grandma's marathon in the spring. So I must not be THAT burnt out.

This weekend was spent doing fun things. I got my hair cut and colored (YAY!!) and had a coupon for a free manicure, so I got my nails done too. I haven't done that in forever, so it was a nice treat. John and Jack got to meet Jim McMahon (the punky QB!) yesterday and get a football signed and an autographed picture. The picture they took WITH him didn't turn out, but John got a great picture of Jack and his friend in the wine aisle of Binny's which he promptly posted to facebook. Hilarious! I was a TINY bit jealous that I didn't go...I was a big fan back in the day, and we are huge Bears fans, but I was glad the boys got to go - they got a kick out of it.

Because of all the fun stuff, I ended up running in the afternoon. I'm not a huge fan of running in the afternoon (even though the weather was good, albeit very windy) mostly because I find myself thinking about all the things I SHOULD be doing instead of running. Then my mental game gets more difficult, especially on a long run. So I'm going to try to do better about getting it done earlier. It isn't always possible though...

One final note: after entering COUNTLESS giveaways and not winning a single thing in 6 months, I have won 3 (!!!) in the last week. YAY! I guess perseverance pays off in more than running! Now I can look forward to new loot in the mail. LOVE.
