1. James' appointment at the peds neurologist was surprisingly anticlimactic. Yes, he's on the spectrum. Yes, we're doing everything we should at this point (except for continuing services through the summer - will work on that next year). Yes, who the hell knows how this will manifest itself in the future. Maybe he'll be "normal" (whatever THAT is) and maybe not. Here's an order for a chromosomal test which may or may not tell us anything.
I HATE how freaking gray autism is. Sucks. Sometimes black or white would be nice.
2. I had an absolutely LOVELY evening with Jenna yesterday. All she wanted for her birthday was to go to a real salon and get a mani-pedi and her hair done. So that's what we did, a bit early, so she can unveil her new look at the birthday party Saturday. It was so nice to just chill out with her, and her hair looks adorable. Seriously. Love.
3. My house is a freaking mess. Sometimes procrastination does NOT pay off. Gotta go!
Sorry about your appointment. It's always better to just know than to be in the dark. And I know what you mean about the house and procrastination. Laundry is calling my name right now!
ReplyDeleteomg finally i can comment! It's taken me about 10x to answer this!
ReplyDelete1. Are they testing for fragile x and the other chromosome testing that escapes me at the moment. We did the same for Avery. It was good to know yes or no (in our case no) in case we wanted more children or if she decides to have children one day (um ok not on my radar but what ever).
The spectrum blows. The new guidelines will come out next year and Aspbergers is supposedly coming off the list.
My biggest beef in this, is that SPD should be considered it's own issue in reference to getting therapy by the insurance industries. Since it is not it has to be diagnosed under Autism. Which for some people means more therapy depending on your insurance and your state. :/
2. I love that!!
3. I hate laundry. I watched my grandma do the laundry for the priests at the parish every week. Working in a cold room on a cold cement floor because she thought that was her lot in life. So it left a bad taste with me I guess.
Sorry the appointment was disappointing. I totally agree, sometimes black and white answers are more helpful.
ReplyDeleteI bet your daughter had a great time! Happy birthday to her!
Yes...autism is crazy...Hope you are enjoying your weekend!
ReplyDeleteBlah. Sorry the appt was not more conclusive.
ReplyDeleteMani/pedi: how totally relaxing and fun.
Hope the party was fun. As you know ours was chaos. Procrastination sucks but I seem to have an advanced degree in it.
Btw: I'm in for that 5k. See you there!!!
