Since I am anal, I wanted to do this on the day I was SUPPOSED to do this, even though Jeff was kind enough to give us a week on either side.
I had 5 miles to do, and I set out in 20 mph winds (a them of the week!) and precipitation that varied between drizzle and sleet and big FAT snowflakes. Lovely. But I managed to get my butt out the door, which is usually the hardest part for me.
My thought was to run the 5k on the back end of my miles, so I was looking at a 2 mile warm-up. Truthfully the entire run felt so hard. I never found my groove. The wind (which oddly enough RARELY seemed WITH me) tried to push me backwards. My brain kept telling me to bail and do it tomorrow. But I DID get it done. My time was not pretty. But I wasn't worried about that. Here are the details:
I did 5.1 miles to make it easy for my brain. Garmin details here (as long as you promise not to laugh at how many times I walked). Total time was 55:42.
mile 1: 11:12
mile 2: 11:05
mile 3: 10:51
mile 4: 10:43
mile 5: 10:51
last 0.1: 0:56
This gives me a 5k time of 33:21. Not my best, but I'll take it in those conditions. Thanks, Jeff, for hosting!!
On to Marathon Training!!The quick and dirty?
Monday: kids home from school, John had a night meeting. Nada.
Tuesday: Julia sick. Nada again.
Wednesday: Hip strength and core. Huge headache. No running.
Thursday: 4.91 miles
Friday: Nothing
Saturday: 5.1 miles
Sunday long run: 8.01 miles
Sunday's long run was really really nice. And I really really needed it, after we discovered that one of the foundation walls in the basement is leaking. AFTER the drywall is up, of course. It's so frustrating! So a run was just what I needed, and it took me about 4 miles to STOP thinking about the damn basement. Overall, the run was good. My splits were consistent and I felt really good except the 7th mile when my foot cramped up and I realized I had a giant blister rocking under the ball of my right foot. Ugh. But my splits didn't show it. I gu'd at 5 miles.
11:07, 10:49, 10:34, 10:51, 11:12 (gu), 10:47, 10:45, 10:49
Week total miles = 18.02. I was only a couple miles short even though I missed a run, so not a bad week for me...
I did the virtual 5km outside as part of my 10 miler. The weather was nice (for once!)
ReplyDeleteShit has the date passed for the 5k? I didn't do it yet. Nice mileage!
ReplyDeleteStill time Marcia!
ReplyDeleteI hope to get mine in at the gym today! Good job on going outside! Braver than me!
I had the same issue with wind this weekend. Blowing hard and always in the opposite direction that I was running!
ReplyDeleteI going to to the virtual 5K today! And I am braving the outdoors to do it!
ReplyDeleteGood Job Bobbi! Running through the bad weather will make the nice runs feel so much better.
I'm sorry about the basement. That stinks!
ReplyDeleteI always find that I run much better when I am angry...do you think that helped you even a little bit?
Hopefully the weather will improve soon and it will be easier to get in your runs. Having 4 kids and tons of life stuff sure doesn't make it easy!
Good job on the 5K and fitting everything in besides the crazy week. You're inspiring.
ReplyDeleteI think I am getting callous type things on the bottom of my feet. No me gusta!
Sounds like a good week to me! Okay, minus the illnesses. Your outdoor run sounds perfect forvthis time of year!
ReplyDeleteWay to tough in out in the crappy weather! I wish I would of been up on blogging because I would of done the virtual run too. Yay! It is good to hear that you are running Grandma's full marathon! I will be able to see you finish:)
ReplyDeleteAwesome. Miles. Woman.
ReplyDeleteFab run too!!
Keep

Coming!
In that crummy weather! Great time! Thanks for participating! Good luck!
