So, we had a fun weekend. We started out Friday with some beach fun. I love living as close to the beach as we do, and we have been taking advantage. The kids, James included, adore it, and so do I...
We stayed until thunder and lightening chased us back home. I was thankful for the rain, although it wasn't NEARLY enough - only lasted an hour or so...
On Saturday my sister and her younger daughter came over to swim. Again, we got rained out, but again, it wasn't enough to help out drought problem. We still had a lovely time hanging out with them.
On Sunday, we were treated to a Cubs game by some close friends who have season tickets. I was nervous (lots of logistics, and I had no clue how James would handle it) but it was such a great time! James struggled in the beginning a little - we were seated under the overhang, so everything was echoing and noisy, but once the game got underway, he was better.
During the 7th inning, our friends had arranged for a little surprise - a guy from the Cubs organization came up to our seats, congratulated my kids on their first Cubs game, and gave them all hats and stickers and key chains. The thing that was SO cool about this was that James had been yearning for a Cubs hat from the moment we walked into the park! So he got his hat and was OVER THE MOON. Seriously, he was so happy. He went from tolerating the game to really enjoying himself and clapping and cheering and singing. A happy James = a happy mama. Smiles were big on my end.
The Cubs won, we sang the song at the end (which James is still singing today, while wearing his hat), we went out for McD's and ice cream, and got home SPENT. But happy.
It was a perfect weekend. Hope yours was just as good!

ReplyDeleteGlad you had a good weekend. I am very jealous of all the beach pics and even more jealous of the game. We have yet to make it to one this year - minor league or otherwise - and it's a bummer. Love the hats!
How fun! What sweet friends! :) We were at the Cardinals game a couple weeks ago, and I was thinking what a total sensory overload experience it could be. Glad James enjoyed himself. :)
ReplyDeleteI wish I could go to the kick off party, it looks like a great time! I'm so looking forward to Zooma now that we have an awesome vacation home to rent for the weekend. This will be the ultimate girls weekend.
ReplyDeleteI think i am black-flagged never to be an ambassador to any race :) The cubs game looks so fun!!! it's so cute that they got the hats - i bet that they will remember that day forever! :D
