2 weeks of crazy

My training schedule has been rather non-existent lately. I guess there's just been too much "life" happening.

Two weeks ago, I was in Minnesota (my home state) for the wake of a family friend who died incredibly young, taken by breast cancer. On that quick trip, I got to see an old friend's brand new baby girl and spend some time with my Grandmother too. It was a crazy, long, fun, EMOTIONAL trip. I'm glad I went, but by the end of it, 14 hours in the car made my already stiff knee very angry with me.

The weather here has been typical Spring nutso, 70 degrees one day and snow the next. I have become an obsessed weather checker.

My 4 year old has decided that sleep is for the weak. And her seasonal crud (see weather strangeness above) has left her coughing the rest of the night. I feel like I have a new born.

And now my husband has left me for 4 days on a work trip, so there will be no running for me until he gets back Wednesday night. Boo.

Somehow, I have still managed to get in a couple runs a week. But that isn't nearly enough. The good news is that the runs I HAVE been managing have felt really really good lately. Last night I ran 3.6 miles, averaging just under a 12 minute mile. I am SO HAPPY with this. But my feet have been aching, so I think I'm due to head to a REAL running store to get fitted for a proper pair of shoes. I'm disappointed to have this problem - I loved my current shoes when I bought them - but this is obviously something that needs to happen soon. Bummer. I have a bunion on my right foot that causes all sorts of issues on its own (it is the one thing that gives me pause when considering 26.2 miles) so the right shoes need to happen NOW. Seriously, last night DURING my run, my toes fell asleep. Has anyone ever had this happen before? It was the strangest feeling (or lack of feeling)....

I am committed to getting 4 runs a week in. No more excuses. I don't have time for em...
